im running the ps box with as much caster ask i can put in the car with 255x40-tires and it steers nicely. i hated the ms box. it was like steering a bus. it took forever to turn the wheel to make any turn.

Actually, I prefer power steering, but to answer your question; the steering box used for the power-assist has a quicker ratio, which I prefer, although it will be much harder to steer when the car is not moving. Make sure you have a 15-inch steering wheel.

Ive had both and the handling on the manual seems better but the turning and cruising is much better with power steering.
the power steering on mine is much easier to turn one way then the other and I understand this is common on our cars where as the manual is tough in either direction

I had manual with PS box. I didn't see any "hard steering"... (14" steering wheel).
    I now have...manual rack n pinion...:drive:...:chirp:.

I experience what Crazy Larry has stated. I'm running manual steering with a power box. Out on the road steering is good. With the car set in place and turning the wheel, not so much.

Power steer box w/manual everything else. Ain't that hard to turn if rolling at least 3-5 mph

Power steering box all the way. Like others have mentioned slow speed is heavy, so I would be sure to have a larger diameter steering wheel. I was running a smaller Grant wheel and it lacked leverage.

She says its hard to control. hard to make a turn. I think she just likes it when i have to drive her around.
I like the manual steering. I have no problems turning it.
I believe part of the fun with my maverick is to have the car without all the engine accessorizes.
    Radio on and windows down.

Sounds like you need a second Mav with P/S for the wife.
My car is manual with power box.
