Rear axle question. Again

    Found this online and was wondering if it would fit my stock 72 axle. It says it's for 62 to 77. But I want a second opinion Screenshot_2015-03-27-06-41-32.png

    5-lug axles or axle bearings for a 8" housing won't fit a 4-lug 8" housing. The axle tubes are different size diameter

    Will a Mustang rear fit with Minimal work? I seen where the Explorer would work if I was to cut one side down. But I don't have access to the tools I'd need for that yet

    Actually it's the tube ends around the bearings that are different. If you happen to have a '71 5-lug then it is the narrowest Maverick housing. The '71 rearend I have measures 55-1/2" flange to flange. I'm thinking the 72-up 5-lug rearends measure around 56" or 56.25"

    I'm referring to the '71 GT parts car I have, never pulled a hubcap to see how many lugs it has... It's a orig 200 6cyl car and has a four lug spare, 99.9% they'll be four lugs hiding under the caps...

    What all rears will fit without having to modify it. Other than moving spring perches? Don't have to be disk brake. I'm just wanting 5 lugs. I don't plan on racing it and just having disk in the front seems safe enough for me. And is there just a 5 lug hub out there somewhere that will fit? That might be a more walet friendly alternative

    The Timken bearing for a four lug axle is #2018 and the bearing for a five lug is #2024.

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    A Granada rear end is slightly wider than a Maverick rear axle....but should work.

    My rims are fitting pretty good now and it has 1 inch adapter plates on each side. So I don't think I'll have to worry about my rims backspacing
