I'm about to buy a 1971 Maverick with a 170 I6 as my first car. It needs a paint job, as right now it's just primer. I can't decide what color I want it to be. Anyone have any suggestions?

All depends on the interior color. Blue interior cars don't look good with a green exterior, for example.

    Welcome from Northern California!:chirp:
As Craig already pointed out, your interior color will be a big factor on what color to paint the outside unless you don't mind painting the interior too.

Interior is black vinyl. I don't wanna paint it red or orange or anything that'll rack up tickets, so keep that in mind.

    Nice!
I don't think you would like my paint suggestions. I like the ticket getting colors(hot rod red, orange, neon green, neon blue, etc...).

Paint doesn't get you tickets, bad driving habits do (trust me!). Good luck with your decision, I have been trying to pick a color for the last 28 years!

I would LOVE to paint it something flashy, but I'm 16, so my insurance is already a nightmare. I was kinda thinking a deep blue or a mint color, but I'm not sure yet.

I could probably do a neon blue. I'm thinking of eventually doing a black hood scoop, so the color would have to work with that.

That sounds nice! Electric blue, with that black grille to accent it. Maybe black out around the headlights...

That's exactly what I was thinking! I don't pick it up for a few days still, but man I can't wait.

Since you don't want to do red:stirthepot: I was going to suggest a deep blue. That would go nice with black interior and black accents on the exterior.

I dont do flashy colors either I like mine dull I vote for flat black :coco: but thenagain I like to paint just about everything flat black. if my comet gt wasnt already painted it would be flat black lol

I do however agree teh really BRIGHT colors look really good on these cars but thats not what gets tickets. its the choices we make while driving the cars with bright colors.

sure the bright colors make you stand out BUT if youre not doing anything wrong like speeding or whatever they wont bother you. if they stop you its more likely to see if you have a license and insurance then theyll say something like you were swerving a little back there so we thought it be a good idea to stop and check you out. as long as youre all legit theres nothing they can do other than take a little time out of your day and send you on your way.

good luck with your color choice.:thumbs2:
where are you from? you dont have a location listed

id like to see a plum crazy maverick cause that would look pretty sick and dark enough to stay under the radar, but dark metallic blue or green are good colors also
