Took the maverick out for some testing Friday night and Saturday here at a local track. The car performed flawlessly. Made a few soft passes to get used to the car, as I have not driven it in 22 years. Ran a personal best of 7.38 @92.39 in the 1/8 mile. Not hardly leaning on the motor at all. Decided to compete in our local tracks points meet to get some seat time. Made it to the fourth round last night. I would say it was a successful night. Put three Chevy boys on the trailer. Lol. Thanks to Stroker Mav for selling me a high quality, first class motor. This motor is impeccable. I will do some more testing next week. Actually turn up the wick a bit... I will keep everyone posted on the results
Made quarterfinals in one bracket race this weekend. Ran a new best of 7.305 @93 .5. Tried to step up launch Rpm and shift rpm. Car kept spinning tires pretty bad, and 60 ft. Times went in the toilet. Got more to sort out to take advantage of the hp I am making and get quicker. Fun, fun fun! Everyone have a great week and a wonderful Fourth of July. God bless America!
Thanks for the updates. I am doing a similar build to yours. I haven't finished it yet, but hoping to by Fall. Have a good one yourself and be safe.
The engine I have is a 347 stroker. 5.0 block with a Stroker rotating assembly. Pro comp Aluminium cylinder heads. Comp cams roller, victor jr. Intake and a 750 Holley double pumper carb. The motor dynos at 465 hp at about 6300 rpm. The engine was built by "Stroker Mav " on this forum. Who built a new 412 combo for his maverick. I bought his 347. He could chime in on all of the details, he knows more about that then I . I do know that it is a great running piece, once i get the chassis and gearing worked out I should run much faster. I bracket race, and I just have the car in cruise mode, and it is deadly consistant. I just have to learn to drive it well.
