Unisteer Rack and Pinion Steering

    So how's the feel when you drive it? Or are you at that point?

    Hi Nick! Do you know if there was much of a caster change over stock "if any" w/ the R&P setup?

    Hi Nick,
    I just finished installing a Borgeson power steering unit on "THE MAV". I am very pleased with it. The only modification required is trimming the outside collar of the steering column. It is very low effort and gets me back to the 16 to 1 quick ratio.

    caster is not effected by the rack and pinion. its only effected by the relationship between the upper and lower ball joints.

    U had manual steering B4 going to Borg?

    Yes, but before that it was a power steering car. When I removed the power steering, I put on a manual box. I got tired of the slow steering ratio.

    Given the timeline of this thread, I feel it should be pointed out that I purchased my Unisteer kit for $1,350 complete with everything needed to install it. That includes the PS pump, brackets, hoses, steering column parts etc. No extra odds and ends required. Having said that, I think it is very cool that "55 crown vic" was able to assemble a workable system on a modest budget.
