Some don't post all that much anymore....but we're still pathologically addicted to these rigs.

Drama and lack of forum time aside, life is also long enough to enjoy many cars along the way. Regardless of the branding and models.. some people just move on to grazing in other pastures. I know that just in the shorter time I've been around here there have been many cars sold by long time owners. Some are unfinished or semi-finished projects.. and some are finished cars with lots of time and money investment being written off for the sake of moving on with life and not hanging onto the car until potential losses can be recouped later on down the road. Harder to make bigger money on these cars becasue the demand is just not there compared to the mainstream stuff. Getting better and better every year though.

Plus, health and financial issues(also keep in mind that divorces cost big money and your toys can most definitely go bye-bye) will surely dampen the spirit to own, drive, and maintain an old car. People also get more practical and functionality needs increase later on in life too. Just my few personal observations as I journey along through our hobby and car culture each year.

I come on here quite often, but awfully busy at other things. Still a good place!

Im not on your list but Ive been a member here for years and I used to haunt the boards every extra second I had until the informative members stopped posting. now I just browse every now and then I dont post alot. I check the for sale section to see if theres anything I can grab for a deal and I rarely list anything for sale here any more since everyone here is either the parts I have for sale are the same parts that everyone else has for sale or theres just not much need to ship parts from california when theres prolly a hundred people around the middle of the country that have the parts laying around int here shed.

I too run into people who know more about my car than me and Im the one whos been working on it for 7 years.
if these cars came with all of the boss this and 9inch that we wouldnt be building them theyd cost too much to get your hands on. the low price is one of the biggest attractions to mavericks and comets besides the memories of the people whos moms or grandmas had one back in the day. for me it was ALWAYS little car BIG motor that attracted me for the last 20 years besides being completely out of the norm.

well that wasnt meant to say no one informative posts here anymore :hide:
its just that back in the day every post was informative....... maybe its just now that I know almost everything about my car not as much is informative

but it seems like there arent as many tech articles as there used to be as well.. maybe its just not as exciting to alot of people any more:huh:

I know Im still jacked up on my car :D while plenty has happened to it it seems like baby steps since its been so long to get it to this point.

:rant2:I have been a member here since 2002. Bought my first new car in 1971. A 71 Comet GT. I have owned 6 or 7 mavericks and Comet since. I have a 72 Comet GT clone now. I work on it myself and have worked on many down thru the years. I am 68 years old and I have been advised that my technical replies are wrong by 20 year olds. If they know more about these cars than I do they don't need my assistance. Just letting off steam this morning.

My thoughts are more of the same. I lurked here for a few years, and have been a member for 12 years. There were a bunch on changes, both to the board's style and posting rules that turned me off for a while. Most of the members I had regular interaction with dropped out for similar reasons, personal conflict, life happening, etc.

I still buy and sell here a little bit, but mostly just post the occasional comment on the FB groups. I keep an eye open for topics I can directly contribute to with my experiences, but those don't come up that often anymore. People have different opinions, and it seems like it is really hard for some folks to accept that they are incorrect in their recollection or happen to know just one of several ways to accomplish something (while discounting all others as hogwash).

I still have my '71, but it has sat idle for almost three years now, which contributes to my lack of enthusiasm.

Hi Max, been along time since I was here too. Got another 72 to put on the street and a 72 drag car. Will post pics later. Right now I need a column shift trans shifter linkage for the street car. Maybe you can steer me on to one since I've been gone for so long.
