That's the early light duty case, enough power or a clutch dump with stickies WILL pull the pinion out of the case...

I really don't care too much. I still have a 9" in the shop waiting on the right deal to come along, I have enough power to tear it out of the frame lmao!

I used to live in P-cola. I thought the weather was more like Georgia/Carolina.

Then you should know how quickly it can change the weather down here, rain then cold, and that's what it's doing now, looking at a High temp of 79 degrees today with a low of 69 tonight, by Thursday night, in the 30's for a low, lots of rain in between, LA..lower Alabama lol

The came off a 76 Camaro, but I think they will look good once they are cleaned up and painted.

I am finally getting around to doing some of the body work that needs to be done on my Comet. There were some pretty nasty rust bubbles on the back of the deck lid and I was able to sand some of them out and shot some rattle can primer and color on that spot and it was fine. Realize that I'm not building a show car here or anything close. I just want it to look decent.

Anyway, when I got to the other corner of the deck lid the bubbles had gone all the way through and after some rough sanding now I had holes. Not good. The only real solution was to cut out the rusted part, make a patch, and weld it in. Easy peasy. The only problem is I've never done anything like that before. I've seen it done plenty but I've never done it myself.

So, after dialing up my courage, I broke out the cutting wheel and made the cuts.[IMG]

Next, I got a piece of 16 ga steel at the local hardware store that I used to make a patch. Fits pretty good!

Then it was just a matter of welding it in. I know, I'm no pro welder, but I didn't do too bad.

I've got a lot of grinding yet to do but for a first time, I think I did okay.

I did this to my door edge today! This car has never been driven yet with the new paint, but I managed to do this in the garage. So, as an option to not trying to fix this right at big effort and $, has anyone used a nice looking door edge trim that might cover this up? I tried the cheap self sticking stuff from a local auto store, but it looks as cheap as it is.

NO WAY would I put a chrome edge trim on that car. Non metallic car....that paint can be spotted and blended in.

Thanks Craig, I needed that! I won't even mention that option to the guy who painted the car. It will cost me some time and $, but as we all know, these are not cheap cars to restore. I'm still worried about getting this car roadworthy by summer, but it's within reach.
