Just got the new "Routing" for the HRPT for this year .. This year they're running through Louisiana, Texas , Oklahoma, and ends in Kansas City,Kansas . Last year there were several of this forums members on the Tour and I'm just curious .. How many are going on THIS one ? The approximate mileage for the RUN is 1320 from Start to Finish.. It's just GETTING TO the starting point that's the " RUB " Hey John and Will , are you two up for it again ? Alex and I are going (Lord willing) we'll be breaking in a new engine in the Maverick. Lemmeno . Cometized Chip
I'll be on the tour this year as I live in Fort Worth so its a great Long Haul trip for me. We'll be in my sisters 64 Falcon for the long haul. I may however bring the Mav out while in DFW though.
Looking forward to meeting you folks. I computed the mileage from town to town from Deland, Florida to the Last Stop and its 1999 miles... So all tolled .. the trip will be 3215 miles from Here to End of Run and Back Home.. That's a bunch of miles .. but I think it's worth it . There is NOTHING like this event that I know of that's as much fun.. I think Bluegene is in Oklahoma , and so it Will so I'd wager we'll see quite a few Mavericks and Comets along the way. Saving up gas money now. Cometized (Chip)
I just looked at the route and I'm going to make the first day for sure! Maybe I can meet up with some of y'all?
Sounds great Country .. Looking forward to the meet . See you at the registration desk .. try to make it to the first stop anyway .. It's a grin, and you can always "double-back" home .. Put it on you "bucket-list" .. Cometized (Chip)
I am likely going to run my Foxbody through Oklahoma and Kansas from St. Louis, if everything works out for me. Maverick is still in pieces.
I'm late to this post, but yep, we're registered with the 69 Mav, and Jake is driving the newest member of the fleet: 73 Pinto. (Since he didn't finish his Maverick) I'm a little nervous about the 50k mile "survivor" Pinto surviving the Long Haul, but it's gonna try. One week until we leave, and I'm down to a short list of small stuff to finish for the trip. Another Mav from Kansas is supposed to meet up in OKC, and Brian from Arkansas is going (red 72 Grabber) haven't heard from John....
I have quite a list to finish on the falcon this week but should still make it. It'll look pretty rough but the tunes should sound great.
Hi Chris: I was just ' googling ' some of the stops in Texas for the HRPT and the pictures are of major Flooding.. How are things in YOUR area .. Is this water creating problems for YOU also ?? Just curious .. I don't think I'd want to try to 'float' my way through Texas just to make the Tour ... Its a few days away anyway so I'll recheck the reports on the Flooding Conditions.. May have to leave the cars 'parked' in the garage ! Cometized (Chip)
Looks like its going to be dry here ,pst of this week so it should dry up enough to not be a problem. Im not bringing the Mav. We'll be in a Falcon which rides about as high off the ground as a truck compared to my MAv. So that helps with the high water.
I'm not concerned much with road flooding, I'm worried about the potential soggy parking/ fields for vendors.... I remember a lake by the stage last year.
Yep ! Us too !! The water was up to our ankles and nowhere dry to 'hopscotch' to the check in .. We caught a lot of ' serious' rain through Tennessee also .. Some of those ' four-way light blinking' cars on the road types .. Can't understand WHY they do that .. Its distracting and unnecessary when you're behind them . Usually they are going much slower than you so you have to navigate Around them and make sure they don't wander into YOUR lane.. Anyway ... Lets hope for a break from all this rain predicted.
