Has anybody here converted their remote driver sport mirror to a manual one. I am really not a fan of the remote function and the knob has been broken since I got the car. So today I was going to take out the cable so I removed the mirror and cut the cable, now its all floppy :(

I will probably make abracket to mount the passenger side mechanism to the driver side, just want to see if anybody has done it before and how

Yikes, a mirror molester! You might as well position it where you want it and fill it up with that crazy spray foam insulation. :)

Why not remove the mirror assembly from the housing and do what you can to " tighten" the ball assembly where you can adjust it but the flop is diminished ? Seems logical .

Ive thought about this as well. It seems that the passenger mirror should be the remote one as the driver mirror could easily be adjusted by rolling the window down.

I think it was either Pinto or Mustang II passenger mirrors that had about a 6 foot cable to mount the knob close to the driver.

How does one "tighten" the ball assembly so the glass isn't floppy??

One can not tighten the ball assembly. The cables hold tension on a spring and seat connected to the mirror backing. One would have to engineer something to hold it in place and have it be adjustable. It is not at all designed like the passenger side.

You can only access the ball tensioner on the passenger side if the mirror glass is removed. Then you can get to the 2 screws that hold the retaining plate in place. You would probably have to remove the plate and bend it back straight then re install it. Then get another mirror glass to replace the one you broke trying to get it out of the mount.

Shit. I was hoping you could tighten the ball assembly to be honest.
