Well, as promised, here are pics of one of my Mavs as they are today. Hope you weren't expecting perfection! Check out the "nice" spray-red interior, and the wonderful fuel-cell conversion! NOTE: not done by me! Feel free to comment/e-mail anytime, still looking for a rolling 2-dr 70-77 Mavrick, hopefully a Grabber w/black interior. Brian Oh, the "fuel-cell" is in the next post :::blush:::
More pics, and some of my other Mav also....note the swiss-cheese body & the tree holder made by a tornado a couple of years ago. Still runs & drives...if one dared to do so. Trunk has lots of trim & other parts I have been scavenging & packing away for a few years. Brian
Sometimes even the ugliest of ducklings can turn into swans. It just takes a lot of time and $$$. How are the floors and frame rails on them?
Hi Rick....yeah, just hoping to do a nice "transplant" into another capable donor body....hoping a Grabber of some sort.
Hello Jean Doll. Very true, it's all in the time, patience, and persistance. Which from what I have seen in the past week of reading & following posts...there is QUITE a bit of knowledge & a nice sense of "family" among all I have seen...so wonderful. Myself, I can never learn too much, and try to take ALL views possible into consideration. As for my Mavs....floor pans & frame rails *appear* ok on the brown Mav, trunk is quite solid, except for the fuel tank flip done on it. Not the white/rust Mav....prolly a different story. I know about 15 years ago when I drove it regular, the dimmer switch kinda mashed thru the floor, and I mounted the switch on a seperate piece of sheet metal to keep using it. Actually, I am almost afraid to look. I do know, about 4 or 5 years ago, I fired up the white Mav, then pulled the driver's front wheel off to un-stick the brakes (drum, been sitting a while), and while I had the wheel off & the car idling...I noticed the steel fuel line was damp/wet....upon closer examination, I could literally see bubbles kinda pulsing at the surface of the rusty fuel line! Hmmm, wonder if that could be a prob??? So now, it runs on fuel in a jug between the radiator & the grille... Brian
Thanks Mavaholic...yes, if I was to try & repair either of these cars, I'd have a LOT of work ahead of me. Just awaiting the wayward shell that is out there somewhere, to use these as donor cars. Is it odd....to have the patience to do the work & take the time needed, yet excited as a kid a Christmas awaiting another body? :::blush::: Great Day to all, Brian
