Well, I was building a 331 stroker but the costs were getting out of hand fast!! So, to get the car back on the road, I've come up with a solution. I've got most of my bolt ons for the 331 already, but the machine work is still looming and I need about 800 dollars more for the cam, lifters and rockers. Plus whatever else I haven't figured in. I have a 94 cobra 5.0 mated to the T-5 that I'm going to use, so I'm going to run the 94 motor with my other stuff stuck on it. What do y'all think?

    Pro-flow aluminum heads 2.02/1.6 and 210 runners
    Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
    Demon carb
    MSD coil
    MSD pro billet distributor
    MSD 6-AL ignition
    8mm wires
    Hooker 6901 coated headers

I'll use my 88 Lincoln block for the 331 shortblock and transfer everything over then. I'm just wanting to be mobile again! I know I'm going over kill with these heads on the stock shortblock, but I think it'll be fun. Besides, these heads won't flow what a better set would anyway. I'm looking forward to having a 5 speed in the car now too!

I like it. If anything, these cars are so light, if the stock block is missing some low end grunt, it wouldn't be as bad as if it was installed in a heavier car.

You don't mention the cam. If the 331 cam is big, maybe go with a little less in the 302. Talk to the cam company about this. You can likely still use the same roller lifters between both motors.

What rear gear are you running?

Using the stick cam in the 94 motor right now. Going with an Anderson motorsports n-91 cam for the stroker motor. Just figuring to get the car mobile again while I'm finishing up the 331. I'm running 4.11 gears and a 5 speed. We pulled my old 308/c4 and put that in my dads 57 ranchero. Trying to make it to cruising the coast with it.

Did you already have a clutch peddle assembly for the T5 install in the Maverick?

I have one from a friend that I believe did come from a maverick with the t-5 in it. Clutch looks decent, so I'll use it for a while. Get the feel for it anyway! Haven't driven my maverick with anything but a C4 in it and all of my 5 speeds were in trucks, so shifting for performance will take a little getting used to!
