You got to have a twisted sense of humor to keep up with Frank, he is referring to you as being the Stallion not the car

I see nothing on the Marti Report about the aluminum wheels. I wonder if it came that way?

Nice car Mike, always did like the stallion even with the big bumpers and neat paint design.

Craig, maybe they are part of the Stallion group as most of the Stallions I have seen have these wheels, I know you could opt for styled steel wheels

Thanks jt, yeah I like it and I am not a huge fan of big bumpers but they will stay on it, it is just a Maverick with a fancy paint job but at least it is mostly original

I would think the styled steel wheels (Magnum 500) would have been standard, but I do not know for sure. I am sure Dan Starnes would know for sure.

I think Craig is correct, my "original" Stallion came with the Magnum 500 wheels. The brochure photo shows the alum. slotted wheels, but I believe they were an up-charge option.

Congrads on the purchase. A car buddy of mine surprised me with a visit to Wilbur's many years ago, and he even let me take the car for a short drive. I was thrilled, as it took me back to the time when I had mine, which was my first car. I asked, but back then Wilbur had no intention of selling his Stallion... you must of caught him at a weak moment, lol.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the car, the Stallion always gets a lot of attention at car shows, many people never knew they existed and are impressed with the paint scheme (which personally I felt was the best looking of the three Stallion packages offered on the Pinto, Mustang & Maverick). Even in the day, you "rarely" saw another Stallion running around, at least I never did...

Well as much as I said I would leave the car as original I have changed it over to small bumpers and had it repainted to shiny black and still the silver inset, car looks much nicer now in my opinion. It was in the need to be freshened up with its age showing and a few battle scars and aged window rubber. Wilbur had waxed the car so much that it was shiny anyhow, I would have done the same thing.

I left the car in Kentucky last August and picked it up this July , I knew it would be in good hands because I have seen several paint jobs that the painter Smirk had done and all were top notch but it was still hard to be that far away and not being able to help, I had no knowledge of when it was painted or what it looked like as I wanted to be surprised and surprised I was , I told him to treat it like it was his car and that is exactly what he did .

The car received a full tear down and taken to bare metal for the paint job luckily he found no rust which was surprising due to the area it came from, he did replace one fender that had been in an accident and felt that it would be too much work to repair and had a nice one to replace it with. It was painted the correct way with fenders off , doors off , hood and trunk lid off all glass out doors and trunk were jammed. Many new parts were installed new windshield, new rubber everywhere , new window fuzzies , new door handles , new stainless bolts for the fenders and hood hinges freshly rechromed bumpers. The hood hinges and fender braces were removed and painted as well as a little touch up in engine compartment. He even removed the valve covers and painted them as well as putting a new cap on brake fluid reservoir and a new starter solenoid and dimmer switch in. No more tape where the silver met the black and all buried in clear coat so all smooth sides an no place for wax to collect . No expenses spared . He will only paint cars with quality paint and told me he was sorry that the materials cost so much but paint prices have risen just like everything else.

Car is beautiful now and I still have a few things I want to do the only regret I have is Wilbur did not get to see the car yet , he was suppose to be there when I picked up the car but life happened and he was not able to make it, he will see it sometime I am sure . As far as me being able to purchase the car from him I had to meet the grand kids approval and he knew it was going to a good home and it was time for someone else to enjoy it
