Rear End

Door code under axle says " 3 "

 

That breaks down to a 2.79:1 rear ratio....only available in an 8" rear axle.

The 7.5" rear ratio's are:

5 - 2.83:1
C - 3.08:1
8 - 3.20:1


Now....the curious part is....how did you car end up with a 7.5" rear axle underneath it?????

 

Someone in the middle of the night or the dealer...

 

then my rear end is a 8 inch...because according to the break down of the vin...my ratio is a 2.79 that is stock on the maverick..

 

does anyone have the website url for the vin decoder ....i used it when i first got the maverick and i cant seem to find it anymore

Tell that to Ford Motorsports. They carry a track-loc rear for the 9" and the 7.5 but not the 8". Go figure.

 

ok here we go...try and figure this out....

my vin is 1k91u224696

according to the decoder...my car is a 1970 maverick....with the u for 170 CID engine...because the decoder does not have a U for the 1971 decoding...


WOW...am i confused now.....LOL

 

U is a 170 no matter what year Maverick 70-72 ... A 1971 Maverick with a 170 would have come with an 8-inch rear and 4-lug axles .... there is no confusion.
