The Gathering follows my personal philosophy about the classic car hobby. "It's all about the people. The cars are just an excuse to get together". You don't have to have a finished show car to be a part of the gathering of people with a common interest. It is a fun event to go to a place where there are activities and side trips to places you normally would not see. The area around Somerset, Ky is beautiful with Lake Cumberland, a 55,000 acre man made lake, Cumberland Falls, the largest waterfall in the South, rolling hills with curvy roads to cruise, and if you stay a little longer, the largest car cruise in Kentucky. But the best part is the people and the friendships developed over the years. It's like a big family reunion. That's why people drive or fly in to it each year. Great vacation, as Mike said. Join us. we sometimes have a group project to do. last meet it was Earl's front brakes... one year we installed Crown Vic. rear disc brakes on an 8" rear. rebuilt/installed a motor in Dale's car. something for everyone...
You always have Knotts Berry Farm All Ford meet and there are enough people in Cali and close with Mavs and Comets that a meet could be arranged , just somebody has to take the bull by the horns and go for it.
I've had up to 30 people at my house for a cookout. we invited the Sheriff Deputies on patrol in the area that day also. we had people driving by just stop to look at the cars. at the time only 4 of us there had been to a..Roundup/Gathering.
