they didn't do anything to raise the image of the Maverick, looks like a low budjet built clown car to me...:biglaugh:...JMO
to name it Under Dog implies it's at the bottom of a list of cars...( :scratchchin:...maybe now it is)
nothing "custom" about it. they took other car parts to mod the body...
what's up with the single exhaust tip? wonder what it sounds like in person...:yuck:
the whole thing looks like a "lowered" 4 wheel drive ...:slap:
how about that "custom" air dam...:yup: (are there lights in it?)
didn't see any under the hood pics, not that I care what a 4 cyl. looks like...:sarcasticclap:
looks like a kid (a young one) took 3-4 model car kits and built one model car from the mix of parts...:1st:
when I think of a "Maverick" built for Sema, for one I think of...Cruzin Illusion.....:thumbs2:
now returning back to the boring subject matter of this thread.

Take the fender flares off the mirrors off the front air dam off and the bumper mounted driving lights off and then you would have a car worthy of seeing but that is not what SEMA is about. The car could be sponsored by J.C.Whitney. I dont mind that they used a 4 cylinder engine thats cool would like to see some interior pics to see what they did with gauges and some suspension pics to see if it is tricked out.

agree somewhat..., theres def a feeling of cheapness to it, or, immaturity. it was built in conjunction with a bunch of high school kids though,... read the article. that needs to be kept in mind.

The car looks a little funky but i wouldn't mind that carbon fiber lower dash tray.

Flares attached with fasteners....not A grade customizing, but if it was built by high school kids, skill levels come into play. My car is still on jack stands, has never run, and is far from respectable; but I would never bolt plastic body parts to it. I dont mind the turbo 4 one bit though.

I don't think a high school kid designed it...they just worked on it.

I think you are right about that. I guess after thinking about it a bit more, I do take slight offense that the actor chose a Maverick to bolt that cheesy stuff onto.....but should I also be glad he at least considered spending some dough on one? Bah!!!!!

I like it but I'm not all about originality. I like customizing and things that are different. I guess is one reason why own a Maverick they're very rarely seen and most people special this generation don't have a clue what they are. I've seen many custom jobs that I didn't really care for but I do have to respect the dedication and craftsmanship put into it, if we all like to same it be a pretty boring world.

Well...at least it has big brakes behind the big wheels...I do like the fender mounted mirrors though. (Of course I like old Toyota Celica GTs' too) Like the concept, like a lot of what's been done...The execution leaves a bit to be desired. Fitment of components and choice of materials used...Not horrible, we have all seen worse....A MAV at SEMA...C'mon...That's good publicity...
