    Hey Fellas,

Just looking to see if anyone has any input or better yet has tried both shocks to see if any one is better than the other? The only thing I see is that the Calverts are fixed and the CE are three position adjustable...

I'm trying to get the front end of the car to weight transfer better.. right now with moog replacement springs, and two coils cut, sat like a 4x4, no sway bar there really is no energy stored... if you try and push down on the car it barely moves... the car has a habit of breaking the ties loose at the 60" mark..

currently has stock Monroes up front

I use 6cyl springs on the front with a coil cut off. With my aluminum headed 347 iv been 1.48. With C.E. 3 way shocks. Sounds more like you need springs than shocks.

Funny thing about the 6cylinder springs.. Moog shows them to only be a few lbs.. difference.. I want to say the V8 ones are 580per inch and the 6cylinder ones are like 530 per inch.. nothing to dramatic...

Didn't some get some springs done by Sandruth or the like that were like 370 lbs per inch?

Most of the time you will have the best results with 90/10s on the front of a drag car, they rise quickly & fall slowly for weight trans fer to the rear.

It's hard to say on the springs. I used old ones so I suppose they could be a little weak but I'd say even at 50lb per side would make a significant difference.

If you want to try a set of 3 ways (I think that they are the CE's), I just took a pair off my car. And I'm using a pair of fox body Eibachs for springs. They are progressive springs, but they come with their own set of challenges. I'm on the northwest side (by Arrowhead) if you want to come over and check it out. I'm in the process of installing double adjustable Vikings right now. They sure are pretty! If they work half as good as they look...then look out!

I had been running the front shocks for three years. I drive it on the street and sure has helped with the hook at the drag strip

I haven't been on here in a bit.. I ended up buying the calvert front shocks and sure enough they didn't make much difference as we said earlier.. so softer springs are still on the menu.. It looks like the only way to get some is to have them custom made or get some 30 year old used ones as moog has condensed their catalog... also the other option would be to convert over to a coil over..

hey Tony thanks for the offer.. I saw it a bit late, since i already bought the calverts.. the issue with the fox springs is that they have a bigger OD right?

    No worries.

The fox body springs have a smaller OD actually. It doesn't fit in the bottom saddle very well and only fits in the top saddle without the rubber isolator.

I've still got my springs and shocks out if you want to see how they fit in this application. I've been modifying my upper compression bump stop for some additional clearance (I've made a ton of changes to the shock towers for clearance and things needed to change). I also just purchased a manual front end alignment tool that I'm expecting later this week to finish the front end up.

Did your Calvert shocks come with that gold mounting plate for the shock tower cap?
