My AC/heat blower quit working. Tested the #5 fuse and replaced the 30a fuse. Getting power on the fuse terminals. Not getting power to the motor. Connected a battery "not the under hood battery" to the motor and nothing. I looked for the resistor but cud not find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? I would like to get it working B4 long; planning on road trip soon and hope to figure it out - soon.
Hope I don't have to pull the entire box again; if so, probably a fall project. Spent a lot of time under the dash today, lot of sweat. Decided better to ride w/o AC than spend time under the dash in this humidity & heat.
I hear the compressor sw/solenoid kick in when activate fan switch...

The resistor and speed switch are generally in the ground side of motor... If there is no power to motor I suspect you have other issues... The resistor is 19A706(missing first digit in illustration) mounts on blower housing, direction of your left foot....

Yes, mounted on the connector on the box side. See attached diagrams.

Thanks for the illustration Tom! Give me a guess on what U might look for in my situation. I really wud like to work this out -- sooner than later.

Well lookin' at the wiring diagram I was wrong, resistor & switch are in voltage supply side of motor...

Oh well glad I screwed up in July and didn't wait till Dec to ruin a perfect year...;)

Thanks for the pix - very helpful. I didn't look there, don't think I can see it w/ box in the car. Now I know where it is I will try remove the vac motor to reach it. I had the box out about 5 yrs ago for refurbishing, heater core replace, evap test and paint all metal parts, new vac motors. That wud have been the time to replace everything associated w/ the box - didn't know that was resistor. Appreciate your input.

Pretty easy part to access so I think you can fix it in a jiffy.

I hope so! The part ordered from NPD suppose to arrive tommorrow. Hope to have it going by Sunday -- have plans to make the RU if all goes well. Too hot to work under the dash today, even if I had the part.

Everett, not to dash your hopes but, unless the resistor has a lug burned off(either 270 or C81), I doubt it's the problem... Assuming the circuit drawing correct, it should operate on high even if resistor is burned out...

Well, there is a possibility you are correct. I was thinking the same thing. But, while I have dash out may as well replace the resistor. I will test to see if power is coming to the resistor and backwards from there. Will connect 12v directly to resistor terminals to see if motor is defective. Possible heater blower switch the problem or motor? Very thanks for your input and the diaghram.

Again assuming the diagram is correct, since compressor is engaging the switch should be OK... Compressor limit is powered by circuit 348 that comes from speed switch and also feeds to resistor terminals(though the diagram isn't clear as to how the compressor gets power in low & med positions)...

Access was a BIG PIA. Bracket for the dash/vent vac motor in the way and riveted to side of box, made access a real pain.
The new resistor not exact fit, had to be modified -- work on it all day. Removing the seat didn't make access much if any easier. Only gratification in this project, resistor was the fix and the weather was cool enough to work all day under the dash. Still have at least 3-4 hours putting everything back; hopefully, can do it tommorrow B4 heat wave returns. Glad we got a break in the heat or project on hold.
Everything in AC system/heater box, new/or replaced cept evaporator; hopefully, I can enjoy the system w/o any more issues.
If the box was out of the car, easy fix, access super easy. I had the box out about 6 yrs ago and replaced, painted parts and repair a spot in the box shell -- didn't know the prongs sticking out the side was resistor. Live and learn -- pay the price in the process.

Many thanks to Tom and Jeff for input/assistance resolving the heat/blower resistor issue. Saved me lot of trouble.
