I had a question with regards to carburetor tuning. I can't seem to get the car to NOT run rich. I pulled the carb off real quick to take a look, and the intake had a pool of gasoline inside of it. That should NEVER be a thing, right? If so, could a carburetor rebuild be the solution, or do i need to look into getting another one? Also, just in case someone pushed the mixture bolt in too far and wallowed it out, is that something a rebuild kit could solve or would I, again, need a new one?
A stuck float or dirty needle and seat for the float will cause fuel pooling. I'd check and clean that and see what happens. What carb?
Usually with a good cleaning and kit to freshen the YF it'll be fine... Common for a leaking accelerator pump to cause flooding...
It is an easy one to rebuild. The only tricky thing is getting the fast idle set properly. There is no fast idle cam on those carbs. It is just a matter of setting the correct opening of the throttle plate when the choke is in the closed position. Your kit will tell you what drill bit to use as a size gauge.
