Ok, so we all know that the Mustangs get the best and coolest gas caps.

What do the Mavericks and Comets get?? Nothing!.... zip, zero, nada!

I've already tried using a Scott Drake (Mustang) gas cap with "GT" on it, but the GT part doesn't line up because the stopping point on the fuel filler neck is in a different spot. I've already read the old post on the "clocking" issue of fuel filler necks on both the Maverick and Comet, and I know the slots are aligned differently.

So, I'm trying to come up with something a bit on the creative side, since our original Comet gas cap is pretty much cracked up and destroyed. I'd love to add a vintage GT emblem on the cap. So, this is what I'm thinking of trying. I'd like to take a plain chrome 1964 Falcon gas cap, and then mount a 1967 Mustang GT emblem on it. This way, I can line up the emblem on my own.

    Here's the Falcon gas cap...

And here's the GT emblem I'd like to mount in the center of it...

I've already done the research on the emblem and it's 1-3/4" tall by 1-5/8" wide.

The mounting posts can be cut off (if necessary) and glue could be used.

What do you guys think? Will it work??

    Any other suggestions??

Dont see why it would not work, you could get some clear resin and pour it in after it is all done and it would level out
