Have you selected a color for these parts from your Maverick's palette?

After reading a post on here, replaced 2 of the tail light bulbs with so called "Plasma LED" from West Coast Cougar. I am sold, and will be ordering another pair of bulbs soon.

I installed a pair last year "summer", big difference, compared to OE 1157. I thought a bit pricey @ 34.00 but once they were installed -- satisfied.

Drove it around a little yesterday, and when I got home, there was fuel running out from the underside of the carb down onto the exhaust manifold.. close to a fire situation!

Pulled the carb off and bought a carb kit for it so I could get the funky 3 piece float needle. The carb was overflowing and gas was running out the shaft around the accelerator pump linkage. The accelerator pump linkage goes from the underside of the carb, up through and past the fuel bowl, then turns back down to the accelerator pump... Not a great path if you ask me, but that's the Carter YFA design.

Got it back on today and it is much better. Still lacks any power, but every step is one step closer to junking this motor and getting the 5.0 in...Did get a 4 mile drive in this morning without it burning to the ground or stalling out, so that was a success!

Just wondering how many of our cars have been lost due to this design.......

As far as I'm concerned the LED lamps are a solution searching for a problem... IF the lamp housings had the reflectivity as when new, a 1157 bulb is all that's necessary... What happens is the housings darken with age, usually paint discolors or in case of zinc plated housings turn almost black...

Not a Mav or Comet but here's my Cobra Jet with restored housings using a single 1157 bulb and a '66 Shelby that is apparently in dire need of same... Within three or four years the fastback '68-'69 Fairlanes had one of the worse tail lights of any vehicle on road, brake lights all but invisible in sunlight...

After finding tiny pin holes on the bottom of my gas tank I took it to a transmission/radiator/gas tank repair shop. Since my Mav is a 70 which most of you know no one makes a new one so hopefully they can fix it.
Also started to remove the 4 lug drum brakes to install granada disks in the front and a complete Versailles rear end

Stripped the paint off my grabber hood, found it to be pretty beat up. Everywhere there was bondo over bare metal there was surface rust and lifting, this is why I always spray epoxy primer before body filler is applied. If I cant get it right, I will buy a Dynacorn hood and be done...

I can recommend them .. The fit is great and the metal work is too ! Get the Scoops also if you do this ! We found a
couple of low spots in the NEW Dynacorn hood that we dealt with .. but our painter is a perfectionist and he want's it smooth .. See ya a the show !
