Hello, Was there a year when the did not offer 4 lug Comets? Or If I but a 76 or 77 comet sight unseen with a 4.1 will it have 5 lug wheels? I was thinking they started making them all 5 lug by 75ish...

Yes it will have 5 lug wheels unless someone has changed them.

Thanks for the reply. I missed two mavericks in two days. The one yesterday was a sweet 74(on ebay), it was pretty good for 6K. I just bought a Comet sight unseen from Arizona... It's either black or green... cant tell... LOL Maybe grey/black. looks like houndtooth seats maybe just plaid. It's not as good condition as the mav but still I'm soooo excited...

In 1973, ALL Mavericks and Comets had 5-lug wheels. Discs were an option in 74-75. In 1976 and 1977, front disc brakes were standard equipment, regardless of engine.

Hey now, I am wishing I had a comet hood and grille. I would even trade Mav hood and grille for it. (I have something in mind that requires Comet hood and grille but a Maverick bumper) Heheheheheheh.........top secret.:mischeif:

Not dogging on anyone who likes them etc Honestly. I just dislike them because of the large over hang, they look like Pontiacs

just 'gaudy' in my opinion in this aspect. My neighbor has a Grand Prix like this body style. I know some Fords had the same kind of look too. Something like this

which isn't bad IMHO as I owned a 400 (not a 351M) that looked just like this car for $400 and tightened the starter bolts up on an original 11,500 mile 1 owner car. Would burn the tires off the ugly beast from straight to sideways up hill. I think if someone was to shorten the over hang 'nose' on a Comet and sucked the bumpers in tight they would look a world different !!! I hate they got sooo much more in options then Mavericks ( trim, cooler looking tail lights, and etc.

Ahem.....does it require a rear louver???? There is a giant thread about some highly disputed
stuff around here somewhere, and it probably needs to get woke up again.

Here's my '74 Maverick with a '76 Comet GT hood and grille, and the big bumper tucked a bit. I needed a little more clearance under hood for supercharger tubing. The OEM GT hood had a scoop already but did not quite fit still so the teardrop was fitted.

    The 250 Six 74 and 200 Six 76 Comet had 5 lug wheels , 74 was drum/drum, 76 was NP Disc/drum and spindles went on the SC'd 74..
