Obviously, the "Coyote Progress Train" has been derailed for quite some time. The demands of employment and home projects designed/initiated by the one whom I'd exchanged vows sometime long ago, (then always completed by "yours truly"), took precedence. This has given me more than an abundance of time to ponder the desire and remedy the need of other projects. Having balanced practical application to uniqueness, I've determined that I will forego the Coyote Project altogether.

The new plan... begins in two weeks and involves three vehicles. Pulling the 408 out of the Bronco and dropping in the Coyote aligned with the E4OD. (http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229711)

Why? I'm of the thought this combination has to obtain increased gas mileage. (While I realize gas prices are dropping, as are stocks so far this month, only eternity lasts forever. My play is consistency - regardless of fuel costs and the market.)

Dropping the 6spd transmission out of the Cobra and installing the new Quicktime Bellhousing/Centerforce Clutch/T56 Magnum XL 700 lb torque capacity transmission that was intended for the Maverick. The Maverick's tunnel has already been modified to accommodate the comparable transmission size, so the stock Cobra transmission will be mated to the 408 to drop in the Maverick. This gives the car fuel injection that produces the 400rwhp/400rwtrq which should be plenty regarding propulsion and with another two gears there's a chance for increased gas mileage - even with a 3:73 differential. Concerning overall weight reduction, aluminum vs. iron block would have been nice, but I've already spent enough coin with the RC107 action. Still less weight than factory and in my view, the $$$ saved from Coyote conversion labor costs will be applied the Kenne Bell 3.2LC Blower for the Cobra, thus the need for the transmission swap. (Then I'll only need to remove/exchange the IRS - hate the backlash which negates any appreciation in cornering!)

For background, the 408/E4OD was completely rebuilt/upgraded and dyno'd less than 8k miles ago, and has been thoroughly/responsibly driven over long trips, i.e. from Olympia, WA to Tuscon, AZ to San Antonio, TX to Tallahassee, FL to DC. So, this is not a salvage yard procurement for installation.

In summary, this seems to be best when all is considered. Kindly share any thoughts or criticism; this provokes thoughtful discussion in capturing flaws and has the potential to generate new ideas.

Wow. Ok, so how far back do you feel you could have set the engine back? I mean it looks like it would need clearance.

Thanks, I broke my neck and back last month and have decided to use my remaining time building the baddest maverick ever. Then win the no prep kings series in a handicapped controlled Ford.
