    Good afternoon,
I was just curious if anyone else feels as if the rooftops aren't that thick and it seems like if you went through a rough carwash it would definitely dent or do some warping to it. Has anyone else had this issue, how did you address it? One of my buddies mentioned possibly doing a thin layer of fiberglass but don't wanna warp it.

Fiberglass will do nothing to strengthen a roof.

Unless the automatic car wash is defective, I see no way it would dent a roof. Personally...I would never take a Maverick thru an automatic car wash.

Most car washes here won't let a person take a classic thru their wash . Just because it might cause damage . I once took a 68 Mustang thru and was I sorry .It broke the antenna and ripped one of the emblems off .

I would not say the maverick roof is “strong” but by no means it is flimsy. It takes a decent amount of force to dent the roof. I would not worry about it too much unless you go through a hail storm or decide to dance on your roof. Also putting fiberglass on a roof is a terrible idea. Metal and fiberglass have different rates of expansion and contractions and it will warp and crack.

As I work in an auto plant, I can tell you the metal in today's cars is about 1/3rd the thickness of anything produced during the maverick Era. I wouldn't put a car top carrier on it, but I doubt it will buckle under any normal use...

It might be thicker but it doesn’t not have the support structures that today’s have. That the big difference. But either way it’s fine the way it is, unless you are in a crash at 70mph and at that point it’s all up to luck lol.
