    It's ok. My kid build things and never plays with them also. Then he takes them apart and builds them again.

    Hi all fellow Arizona Maverick owners, my name is Chad and I just recently created a new account on this forum as I could not gain access to my previous account from about 2010-2011 (yes life happened and the maverick got pushed to the side for a few years) so I got my new account set up and I have been active the past few days reading threads and catching up. I was on the original Desert maverick thread and went to the original meet with my dad and a friend, I didn’t have the maverick because it was still in pieces in the garage at the time but I do have a the patch and I remember eating pizza at the little pizza joint where a few of us met and then after the meet we followed a member that lived close by back to his house and I purchased a grabber hood from him that needed a bit of work. Anyhow today I decided to search for the old thread about the original meet and found that it was long gone but I did come across this gem, I haven’t read through all 141 pages but here I am. I scrolled though a few pages and recognized a few of the members from the old thread and I plan on looking through this thread and trying to catch up on the Az Maverick group!

    Nice, hope to make it next time the AZ guys meet up! As for now I will keep wrenching on the old maverick. Tuesday I put 5 gallons of 91 in the fuel cell and threw a charged up optima in it, checked all the fluids and fired it up (it’s been about a year since I last had it running). I let it run for about 20 min and drove it up the road and back then let it idle for a while and the fuel pump started whining pretty bad so I’m going to start by changing out my fuel filter element and seeing if that helps any or if I will need a new pump!

    Welcome back Chad.

    My Maverick is running good since I did the new intake manifold a couple months ago. Just too hot to drive it. Last weekend I picked up a pair of nice black Pro Car low back bucket seats for it. For the price of free. Practically new, just sat in a project Fairlane last couple years and now he changed his mind. Once it cools off I will swap those in and the car dosnt need much else.

    Today I went and picked up a new project I couldn't pass up. A 68 f100 short bed with 300i6 and manual trans. It was a steal but the guy wanted it to go to a good home and cant think of a better place then my house. Had to change a leaking fuel pump then it drive home.

    Good looking truck Ryan, what are the plans for it?

    I already have a nice restored 70 f100 short bed. With the 68 I'm going a cheap simple build. Leave the 300 i6 and get a 4 barrel manifold and header. Lower it. And shoot it a flat tan with hammered metal gray paint on grill and bumpers. Cheap simple cruiser.

    Some how I have managed to get a lot done on the 68 F100 and not die of heat stroke. So far I replaced the battery and cables. Changed the radiator and heater hoses. Changed the 4 blade radiator fan for a 5 blade. Rebuilt the carb. Removed steering column and rebuilt with new bearings and turn signal switch. Replaced passenger door and installed the windows and door panel. New headlight adjusters and headlights. Plus some other minor crap. My 9 year old is having a blast using tools and helping out.

    The excitement of a new project is keeping me going on the 68 F100 even with the heat. Just cleaned up the floors and removed the rust and sealed it all up. Almost got the interior back together. Also re-primered most of it. Poor Maverick is sitting there asking for its new bucket seats to be put in. But the truck is in the backyard next to the pool so easier to stay cool.

    I put in a new master cylinder last week. A couple months ago before I moved I installed a chute and mount. But it's just been too hot to even think about going out into the garage lately.

    Interesting, earlier this year I got a '64 F100 project going down here so I have something to do until I get the Mav back running and out of my shop in Show Low. Did the Crown Vic front suspension and explorer rear on it. Build thread here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1571257-1964-f100.html

    I had been working on swapping in a 5.0l HO/AOD from a '92 cougar into my '75. Realized it was going to take me a very LONG time to get this swap done just working a couple weekends a month up there, so backtracked last month and took the 250 from the '70 and put it in the '75. Will run with that for a couple of years until I retire and have the time to do the swap properly. Will trade truck and car locations this fall so I can start doing some of the body work on the Mav this winter.

    At least for garage cooling, I have a mastercool on my back porch, that blows through the house into my garage. Not exactly cold by the time it gets there, but its not bad out there working on most days.
