Hello all! My name is Ray. I have a 69.5 Maverick I purchased a few months ago. I am the second owner.
Mav has 70 something original miles. Very straight.

I bought it with the thought in mind to swap the inline 6 and C4 with a EFI 5.0 HO and AOD out of my 91 Thunderbird Sport.

Had the person in line to do the swap for me, unfortunately about a month ago he died suddenly. Now I am in the process of finding someone new to do the swap for me or at least help me out.

Long story short, thought I would ask the forum what the best plan of action for this would be? Any members in the Denver Colorado Metro area that can help me? If not, are there kits I can buy to make this as painless as possible? I talked to a guy that may be able to help if there are kits available.

I'm ready to take the path of least resistance, so if an engine swap without the tranny is the way to go, that's what I'll do. Any and all input is appreciated! Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thank you,

    Ray Santillan

Welcome to the Forum, from Northeast Illinois. AFAIK, there are no kits for the swap. A lot of folks have done the swap. My car came w/ the V8, so I have no first hand personal knowledge. From what I have read, frame mounts and different trans mount for the AOD. Also, putting AOD in early cars have issues w/ trans tunnel clearance, from what I have read -- mods/cutting tunnel needed. Not something for novice to do w/o help from someone who has experience.

Do a search on the topic -- lots of info on making the change. Im sure some other members will chime in, w/ first hand experience. Your in the right place for anything concerning these cars -- Decades of knowledge on this forum...

    :Welcome:...:Handshake:
69.5 has a smaller tunnel than the rest of the years, AOD will be a squeeze. is a C-4 an option?

    Welcome from Oklahoma!

As a fellow 69.5 owner, I can tell you the tunnel is tight with a C4, an AOD may clear with some hammer work, but I wouldn't assume it to be a drop in job.
