    Maverick is almost in hiding.

What's really cool about this picture is the Santa Fe CF7s, these were converted from F7 streamliner to switcher configuration(CF7, converted F7). Ten years ago grandkids(twins, then three) and I chased one of these up and down the line so they could see it. They were heavy into Thomas Train & at that time 517 was freshly painted orange & yellow, to say least they thought it was magnificent.

If you're into trains check out the links.

315L is the SAME engine renumbered to 2517 then 517

At the end of the road. I dunno if it's still around, apparently was due for scrap last year.

That's actually a GP7. GP stands for General Purpose. I worked for Midsouth Rail now KCS. Midsouth had several CF7's in their fleet. They were 1500hp.

I don't quite understand, the first picture posted is of GP-38, there is no doubt 517 is a CF7. I've talked with a Commonwealth mechanic. They also had a old 1950 GP16(#444) we chased around. On larger trains usually 517, 444 & 2050 or 2051 were tripled to do the job. Sometimes two in front and one out back.

In the summer of 1982, somewhere in Wyoming, Patty, my long-suffering wife, changes spark plugs on our 1971 Mercury Comet. The car was reliable as an anvil in city driving. Unfortunately, sustained highway driving sent oil consumption through the roof. Spark plugs on the 200 fouled with deposits in as little as 250 miles. We got very skilled at changing spark plugs on a hot engine. Our 6,000 mile round trip from San Francisco to New York was otherwise uneventful. Sold the car for $375 later that winter. It was using a quart of oil per fill-up at that point.

Garland, TX where I grew up. I saw this car around town a lot as a kid. Also saw the Cuda too. :) 86ABA54F-9DCB-4D91-9B04-4543F6B66525.jpeg

I had a Pinto wagon in the late 80’s that I would pull into a gas station every day to fill the oil & check the gas.(y)

Ran across this pic on the Oregon Cam Grinding website. It had a stroked 460 and ran mid 9's back in its day.

Looking at some of these photos remind me I was born in the wrong era. My HS parking lot was full of fart-can Hondas.

Yeah, just look at the cool fashion you missed..;)

There was never a Maverick in my HS parking lot. Maybe by end of next graduating class.

This one has been posted in past by WinterBlue71, I think it's a dead link now.

Would have gladly swapped the fashion for the cars. Not a second thought.
