69-73 Highback Seats have the same frame as Mav seats. The bigger issue is that the seat tracks for our cars are specific to Mavs and Comets. They move the seats about 3 inches forward from what I have been able to estimate.

I have 72 Cougar seats in mine on seat tracks that are of unknown origin at this point (it has been a long time ago). Using the existing holes in the floor for the original bench seat, my seats are too far back. I sit with the seat on the second notch, and I'm 6'1". My wife uses a pillow ... :biglaugh:

If I don't find a set of seat tracks soon, I will fab my own risers. I have a set of flat tracks that came out of a Ford van.

If you have Mav highback seat tracks and risers, etc, it has been said that almost any Ford seat from the era will bolt onto them. Bolt pattern on Ford seats is universal. If you have LDO seat tracks, highbacks will be right on the floor.

I just installed '73 Cougar bucket seats into my '72 Comet GT. I used LDO seat tracks and they bolted right into the seats. However, the holes that were already in the floor did not completely match up. I had to expand the holes a bit to accomplish the job. The seats sit fine for me and are the same shape as Comet/Maverick ones.

You can use late model Mustang seats (mine are 2000) but will have to redrill holes and make some spacers. My car is quite modified so I wasn't too worried about making more holes. They are much more comfortable than 70's seats too and more adjustable. :)

I have '82 Escort seats in mine. They are high back buckets. With correct spacers they will fit real well. I'll bet a set of factory Maverick tracks could be adapted to them also.

My seats are from a Nissan Pulsar. Not sure of the year... They were recovered along with the stock rear seat and door panels to match. I like 'em!

That's a Granada console. Several guys here use them.

If you have the Maverick specific tracks, you can use just about any seat.
Just fit the tracks to whatever seat you like.

If you don't have tracks, remember one safety issue:

The stock holes for the seats are reinforced.
You drill new holes, you should reinforce the new holes at least as well!
Otherwise you AND the seat could go airborne in a wreck.
    Just a heads up!
    Dave

My car recently too had escort seats:) Not a bad set of seats, looked pretty good in there. Switched up for a fact. split back bench seat, matched my back seats a little better. my escort seats were red, really red. half vinyl half velour or something. the red buckets, blue back seats, and white car didn't appeal to me too much, kindof patriotic i guess though.:)

I’m still going strong though! LOL
I made my spacers out of 1” square tubing. You can get a stick of it from Lowe’s if you don’t have anything laying around and it’s pretty cheap. Very easy to work with.
