I am trying to decide on which way to go with painting my car. I have searched on here and gotten some ideas and think I'm leaning to the newer style black trim instead of chrome. My posting question is has anyone ever not put the hood trim back on? If lined up correctly it matches up with the headlight bezels but if I do in fact go black with them, I'm not sure what it would look like with a black trim piece on the hood. My vision isnt that creative I guess.
Any one have some feedback on how this may look?

I like the anodized hood trim along with the anodized plus blacked our headlight bezels and a black grille - like on a 70-72 Grabber. But since real nice hood trims are getting hard to find. I don't look down on anyone that wants to paint a scratched up trim black along with the rest of the front being black too.

Here is a pic from the gallery of all black

Thank you for the reply! That definitely helped. I am not dead set on a color yet but atleast I can envision what the trim will look like.

Here are three pictures of my `72 Comet with hood trim removed with body color grill and bezels. I have black `60s vintage Keystone Classics on the front and black steelies on the rear. Even the exhaust tips are black.

The angle of the pictures taken from the front make Hotrock look somewhat pudgy!

Here are some pics of my old 4DR. These were taken shortly after the hood was painted. No trim. NoHoodTrim2.jpg NoHoodTrim.jpg

I like the stance of the wheels? What size rims and offset?

If you're not finding good trim you may want to take a look at some of this guys's repairs. He's in central Alberta , working on trim for a '60 Plymouth. Short portion at beginning of video is showing what he started with, after polishing it looked new. He worked on it again in one of the later videos. Of course this is actual stainless but I'd think dents in aluminum would be easier to remove & polish. You may have to scan back to beginning.

def fit the hood trim even if blacked out, that lack of continuity ont he hood line irked me bad on mine, finally got a trim piece from a seller on here, very fairly priced. (obviously not on in this pic yet)

oh, and mine has the soft 8s on it.

If you do not currently have the hood trim and are going to do it in black, you may consider the pinch-on molding from the auto parts that people use on the edge of doors. It may be close enough to match the headlight trim.

Looks like something's missing when the hood trim is removed. In fact, it looks ridiculous because there's nothing for the headlight bezel trim to tie into.

After all of your comments and thought, I would agree that it will look odd without the trim on the hood. I believe I'm going with the painting the trim the same as the color of the car.
Thanks for all your help and input.
