This might be a stupid question but I am going to ask anyway.

I have Ford GTX aluminum heads and want to use studs for the valve covers. Do you have to screw the stud all the way into the head where it is fully seated? I ask because I need longer that 1.5" studs and there are not many options, mainly steel studs. All the ARP bolts is see have a break in the threads and do not look like they will go all the way seated. Eben though they are 1/4 20 threads they all say for SBC.

    Thanks!

Buy a piece of stainless steel threaded rod and make your own.

Buy the length you need bottom the studs out that way when you remove the valve covers the stud will stay in the head

I bought the rod and cut.

If you gotta have the studs try any hardware store like ace, true value or tractor sup.

You can use the ARP, it is most likely the quantity dictaing the are for the SBC since it will need eight. They do not need to go all the way to the bottom of the hole, if you use all the threads on the short side you will be fine.

2 1/2" are half the price off 2", always cracks me up to see that even after all the years I have sold parts and hardware. You just can't second guess these suppliers when it comes to pricing!
