Now I think it may be kinda cool as a semi sleeper, nothing crazy but fun to cruise. Anyway, I'll be looking at things and probably ask a few questions eventually as I would like to put a 302 in it for a lil fun factor but I'm headed to Afghanistan shortly so til then...

Do I need to source a (belly bar?) Actual name?)) Or can I fit a 302 with just motor mounts (mav specific?) Have motor. Q2. F/disc conversion, best/easiest swap? Has anyone tried sourcing req parts off rock auto in absence of donor cars? Exactly what all parts would I need? (I have a 90 fox I completely stripped & built for drag so I know my way around, my brother has a 66 stang 5 lug, will anything work? Q3. R/5 lug swap. 66 stang rear bolt up? Ok, all I'll ask for tonight. Trying to get an idea for a direction if I pull the trigger next year.
The V-8 belly bar is not "required", but I would recommend using one. Get disc brakes from www.DiscBrakeSwap.com. You will need spindles, rotors, calipers, and associated bearing and seals. They sell a kit using all new reproduction factory Ford parts. The Mustang rear end will be wider than a Maverick rear end. I would try and find a Maverick rear end.
Ah cool, I was a south sider when I lived in central Iowa, just north of Army Post over by the airport. A Ranger/Explorer 8.8" rear can have new spring mounts put on and give you disk brakes in the bargain. Some folks are putting wheels with more backspacing on to deal with slightly wider dimensions, others are grabbing a second right side axle and cutting the left side to the same length in order to get the driveshaft centered and narrow it to very close to stock dimension.
Hello everyone, I'm back home & settled in. Unfortunately my neighbors on the south property line have raised a property line dispute with a secondary complaint about "junk vehicles, referring to my 79 F250 SC & THE 4dr Mav" and have threatened litigation, we have lawyers involved. My truck runs & drives & is more priority than the Mav & I don't have room to store both inside so I'm looking at trying to sell the car. My question is, if I get the car running & have tires that hold air whats a f FMV for this thing? I've thought about just taking it up tobthe auction house & putting a light reserve on it. I know being a 4dr its not going to bring alot...
Nice welcome home committee...sad!!! The neighbors are complaining about junk cars in rural Iowa? They must have moved to your area from northwest Des Moines.
I would say if it runs/drives, it would sell quick in the $500 to $1000 range. To get more than that would require a little spit and polish to make it really look good. What reserve would you put on it?
Welcome and thanks for your service from a military family. Craig is pretty much spot on to values. Mavs, unfortunately, don't carry a tremendous value as a collector car still. Auctioning is a quick & dirty way to get rid of a vehicle but I'd caution you. I do policing as a side gig at a public sales car auction house and they get classics from time to time. They generally sell lower than one may get from direct selling. Also, you have to pay a seller fee which cuts in to your sales dollars. Auction houses get it from both sides, seller & buyer fees. Some auctions do not allow reserves and the one I work at didn't until recently. Now they do but you may still have to pay a seller fee if it doesn't sell because nobody met your reserve. No house is going to let you put a car in their auction and not charge you something if it doesn't meet reserve, if they even allow them. Any car, classic or not, that isn't running and driving at the very least is not going to command near the money that one that is will. It is a shame that you have to consider selling it especially because of a #@%&$# neighbor. I live in rural Western PA and we don't have those kind of issues from storing cars on your property. If one looks at many of the farms near here, there are junk cars & trucks on many of them and nobody says a word, much less the municipalities. One thing I would highly recommend you doing is to go down to your township or borough hall and check out the local ordinances which would pertain to storing vehicles on YOUR property. They have to allow you to reference the ordinances. Another is to talk directly to the township/borough solicitor about this as he/she would know for sure. They have to give you contact info for their lawyer. Now if you clearly state to them that the vehicles are NOT junk, but rather in line for restoring and driving, that may change everything if there are in fact any ordinances which might be a problem for you. It's not like you're in an HOA suburban community where they have a lot of very restrictive rules. I could never live in one of those. Do your due diligence before you resign yourself to getting rid of your vehicles because of someone else. Just because the idiot next door doesn't like you having the vehicles doesn't mean that you cannot. Think like a soldier. Adapt & overcome.
That would be pretty much the case everywhere, but if you have one or more than one that won't be on the road for a while due to how much work it needs, that could be a costly thing depending on your state vehicle code. Here, if it has a valid plate, it MUST be insured. So, you are paying for registration & insurance for a car(s) that isn't road worthy yet. Waste of money. Who I feel for are the car guys in California. Plates have to kept current or you need to pay for all the back years before it can be revalidated again. The plates stay with a car there rather than the owner's property like here. I found out about this back when I had the Stallion looking for parts and a guy from Northern Cali was selling his Mav for parts as it had been off the road for 10 years but Cali DMV wouldn't even allow the title transfer and registration until ALL of the past years plates were paid for. An estate sale vehicle suddenly became expensive. He needs to take my advice and stand up to this bully of a neighbor.
