Yes, like that! Your doing a great job on the resto., also like the way you setup the enclosed fabric workspace.

Had to pack up all my parts and prepare to move back to Mississippi. Praying that I dont lose anything in the move. Car is still at body shop in Texas, once it is done I'll bring her home on the trailer. Very nervous about losing parts, mainly bolts but I did label everything in zip lock bags so we shall see.

I got my drive shaft back and put in. Probably cured 90% of the vibrations, and smooth up to about 70 until anything starts to complain. I really dont know what it is as I didnt exceed 70. Got camber eliminators to put in..... 20200801_164824.jpg Then I decided to measure the slope of my driveway where each tire would sit. 20200801_161907.jpg The tape lines are where the wheels will sit and with the square on the spot, I measured the slope in degrees. Then I measured my camber angle and used the driveway slope to correct the reading. 20200801_162411.jpg 20200801_162404.jpg . But wait a minute, a smart person on this forum once said that caster should be set first, then camber. So, I stole ideas from across the web, and put plastic bags under my front wheels and cut a piece of 1/8 plywood to give me a 20* angle. I then measured my camber at 20* turned out and 20* turned in. It looked like this. 20200801_185148.jpg So, I used my strut rods to even up my caster at 1.5* each side. I thought I built in much more than that when I installed my upper control arms, but maybe not. I still need to go to an alignment shop, but wanted to get my camber eliminators in first. According to my somewhat crude methods, I have .1 degree of negative camber on each side. I was fairly wore out, so I only did a crude toe adjustment with my square and I think it has a tiny bit of toe in. It drove nice and straight when I was done, but havent gone on the freeway yet.

I forgot to mention that I had to move my lower control arms inboard on both sides, and the front of my car sits 3/8 inch higher as a result. I can now get my floor jack under the front frame where the strut bushings live.

I took Hotrock to get washed at my local do-it-yourself car wash today. While I was wiping her down a guy drove up beside me in a Chevy pickup with a trailer full of lawn equipment. Obviously a person who does lawn maintenance. He said " What a great car, that thing is hot. I drove by and saw it and had to turn around and come back to see it up close". I thanked him for his complement. He then asked how long I had owned the Comet and then if it had a 302? He then stated you just don't see those cars any more, plenty of Camaros, Mustangs and Chevelles. I told him he was right about that and that Hotrock was a 1 of 34 car due to the combination of a V8 engine, vinyl roof and bench seat and is usually the only Comet of that vintage at any given drag strip, cruise-in or car show. Our conversation carried on for several more minutes. He then said he was a Mopar guy at heart. I told him I also liked Mopars especially A bodies powered by a 340. He laughed and said you got that right!

Once again he complemented Hotrock and was off to earn a living.

Not often you run into somebody that knows what our cars are and appreciates them.

Went for a run on the freeway, and the car feels more stable. When changing lanes, it feels less twitchy as it takes more wheel turn to make it respond and feels more under control. I used to have more negative camber and it is set to nearly zero now. Probably less aggressive in cornering ability, but changing lanes can be done in relaxed fashion. Still need to go to an alignment shop.....lol. I will be saying that for way to long I think.
