Not today but Saturday, moved the Zombie Comet from the shed/grave to the driveway and vacuumed that baby out, hoorah. Then on Sunday I broke it, the buttons were missing on the back two doors, luckily I had a brand new kit that had been in the trunk for 10 years for when I got time.... ..

I think it may take a Jedi Knight to install those things, you can't see, or feel where the screw is supposed to go, I think you may have to use the force.

    But the Zombie Comet Lives......

Decided to pull the heater box out and replace the leaking core and got the blower wheel section and found someone left me a present in there :disagree:

I had a noise in my heater box when I turned left and the fan was on. I pulled the box and found a ladies watch. it would slide over and touch the fan on turns to the left.

View attachment 127594 View attachment 127594 I decided to pull the bumper on my 71, I started pulling it apart when all of a sudden a rush came over me and I started to get carried away and pulled the whole front end. And now I started to primer some of the parts starting with the valance.

    This weekend, I:

    • Painted some engine parts
    • degreased the bellhousing
    • installed the intake on my new aluminum heads
    • pulled the axle
    • removed the center diff
    • got diff fluid all over my garage floor
    • enjoyed the 60 degree weather.
So, I was a little busy. Now I need to order a new rear diff gasket and speedo gear...and new rear gears.

Gave in to my parts hording ways and bought an intake manifold. Always wanted one of these since I was a teen and decided not to pass it up. Was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up to find it has never been bolted to an engine. 20210401_160543.jpg 20210401_160602.jpg 20210401_160606.jpg

Put gt40 heads. On a stock 302 no roller. The car it's all ok. But think the stock gt40 springs. Eat the flat tappet cam?

Assuming it has a already broken in cam I'd say it'll be OK.

Most everything I've seen says the stock GT-40 springs are done at 5500 or so, ain't exactly a tower of strength.

Rick you made me drool a little bit with the purchase of that intake as I have always wanted one but really had no use for one . My real dream is to have a Hillborn injection set up with big ole tall stacks coming through the hood

Hilborn would be way cool too. I was really drooling over the eight stack and seriously thought about it until I saw the reviews on the Speedmaster setup. Sounds like it needs a ton of attention to work right and for the price of the Borla intake I could have couple more unfinished project cars! If I run this one it will be with EFI, I had enough trouble getting one carb running good, not interested in messing with two.

There is a Cougar on the Pro Touring forum running port injection with a Hi-ram and LS throttle bodies, it's cool but the throttle bodies kill the look. My brother and I talked about gutting a couple 1850 carbs to use for the t-bodies and adding bungs but by the time you source the parts and add the bungs your money and headache ahead just going dual quad Fi-Tech or Sniper. Firts world problems for sure!:thumbs2:
