I have a 73 maverick and I'm wondering if I can put on a set of 235 mm wide tires without complications?

    Welcome to the forum!!!

You did not provide us much information. Are you asking about all four wheels or just the rear? I run 255x15s on the rear. Other members are running 275x15s on the rear. Wheel dimension is the determining factor. Back spacing is critical. I have 15x8 wheels with 4 1/4" back spacing. Some members are using 15x8 with 4 1/2" back spacing.

There are a number of wheel and tire combinations listed in the Garage section of this site under wheels and tires.

    Good luck with your Maverick.

I'm looking at all 4, it looks like the front can handle it, I'm concerned about the tires hitting the inside of the fenderwell on a hard turn. I'm thinking of suiting it up with 235 65 14s

You need the right wheel back-spacing. I had 235/60-14s for years, but I don't know if they're made in that size anymore. When I ran 15s, they were 215/60-15 up front, and 235/60-15 in back. You don't want much more than 25-inch diameter up front (maybe 25-1/2")...

Thanks for the info, does the 215 work on a 8 inch rim?

the tire specs should give you a width range.
mine now are 255x60x15 on 8" rims (back).
    215x60x15 on 6" rims (front).
a rim too wide will bulge the sidewall.
my 275x60x15 would rub on 10" rims but not on 8".
