So I'm looking at a bad ring in one of my pistons, and a somewhat worn engine over all (at least 75K miles), and for simplicity I am looking at an engine swap to either a rebuilt or remanufactured engine specifically the 1977 250 cu in inline 6. I've got over $2K to cover the job and need advice. I know I could probably buy a new car for the same money, but the car has some sentimental value so I am okay with putting money in regardless of the otherwise value of the car.
Where are good places to look? Any particular web sights you've used? Should I go remanufactured or just a rebuilt engine, or is there somewhere I can take the car to have the engine rebuilt for me?
Also, any tips for doing an engine swap?

IMO, the quickest and cheapest route is to buy a reman long block and toss your components on it. It will probably include some type of warranty. If you rebuild it yourself, or have someone else do it, there is plenty of machine work you will have to pay for, the car will be down longer, and there are no warranties of any kind.
