    T6Pilot,
You just dated yourself. I like your reply.
If I said, "Who knows Rockford Files and Maverick were TV shows and what the connection there is (without using Google)?", you wouldn't see anyone under the age of 50 raise their hands. LOL.

Yeah I can see it now, Jim chasing a full size ANYTHING, Monte Carlo, Camaro, Mustang etc and them having to stop and wait for the Maverick to catch up...

For the '79 Season Jim didn't like the new sloped nose, wide spaced headlight models, insisted they use the earlier models. Neither did my sister, bought a leftover '78. Apparently the '79 front end turned off a lot of buyers. Before they were on the dealers lots, the '78 were all but gone. In the total Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake area, think there were three left when sis bough her '78. Was only the one at dealer she found hers and salesman said another dealer was trying to get it.

Perhaps when they brought in Richie Brockelman they could have put him in an early Maverick instead of a 65 Mustang. Anyway, even though he got his own show he didn't last very long.

Ah, different strokes for different folks... I love the '79 that I talked my wife into buying new in '79 and I've always been a Ford man. To me, this and the Maverick body styling are awesome. We still have it.

For the record, never said I didn't like those models.

Nice TA, Pontiac powered? Always been a Pontiac guy at heart but would own whatever came along. As a matter of fact, would love to get my hands on the other blue car in your picture, have an unhealthy fascination with those, 1970 in particular.

No, it's got the 403 Oldsmobile but it has no trouble getting down the road. We installed an Edelbrock intake, headers and true dual exhaust. It gets a lot of attention out on the road and at car shows. The AMX is owned by a friend of mine who did the restoration on it. It is equipped with a 390/automatic and is fun to drive.

I actually prefer the '79 if I can't have a '70-'76. I love the first Smokey & the Bandit movie, but the '77-'78 are my least favorite of the 2nd-generation Firebirds/Trans Ams...

Well if it makes my OG Grabber worth more I'm good with that, but purchasing one would be a big fat... no.

Nothing wrong with the 403, the Pontiac powered cars are cool but there weren't too many if I remember right. Very cool you still have it after all these years!

403 is a decent engine, but sadly had only 7.9:1 compression ratio, for a whopping 180hp...

Could be worse, he could have the 301 in it!

I joke that if anything ever happened to the drivetrain I'd put a Coyote drivetrain in it and watch the GM people have heart attacks when they saw it! :) Seriously though the 403/TH350 has been a good drivetrain for this car.

Trucks/Suvs have been sold by Ford with the name Maverick for many years, just not in USA.
