Hello and sorry, I'm new to the forum. I'm selling my 1977 Maverick Interceptor with a 351 engine, not my 1971 Grabber, sorry.

Pretty sure Ford never made a Maverick Police Interceptor...

In describing the car to his brother Jake Blues, Elwood says, "It's got a cop motor, a 302-cubic inch, It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks and will run good on regular gas"

Ford's Interceptor packages included largest engines optionally available. Back in early/mid '50s often included Mercury engines that were not available in Fords to John Q Public. For those that needed less than max acceleration, small V8 & even 6cyl could be ordered. Tried that locally. After using 390 & 428 Fords, plus some 440 Plymouths, Chesapeake bought 350 Chevys. Next year were buying large engines again.

Talked with a retired Va State Trooper, said they used to call the 440 Plymouths "Big Hammers". Said they were sorely dissappointed with the '81 Crown Vics with 302 & 351 engines.

If Maverick police packages were marketed, would have likely been bought by small municipalities that Sherriff mainly kept Mary Popular out of back seats at drive-in, rousted drunks etc.

Agreed, but what engine came in the 77 Maverick “Police Package”?
    120 horse 302 interceptor....

Couple pics from the web. I could see either one of these applications not needing "high speed pursuit" engine needs.

Like I said, "largest engine available"...

No I didn't say anything about Maverick Interceptor package. Possibly known as Police Package.

That light bar looks like a grille with headlights. mavlightbar.JPG
