Starting 1981 all 5.0 whether roller or not use the 50 oz balance... Of course earlier were 28oz as were all 351, which could also be had with AOD... Either AOD flex is easy for the Windsors...

I have a AODE 4.6 flexplate around here someplace, I'll check to see if bolt pattern is same as 5.0/302 which is same as 250...

Needed to resurrect this old thread for some clarifications.
Since we decided to mate an AOD trans (which I already have) with our 250 engine, I see that we'll need a zero (neutral) balance 164-tooth flexplate. Is this correct?
We already have a brand new 164 tooth 28oz flexplate from when we were previously going to install a 302.
Is it a good idea to have the weight grinded off to zero imbalance?... or just buy the new one?
Also... I already have Frank Cooper's AOD crossmember and the Lokar AOD kickdown kit and stainless throttle cable.
Is there anything else we'll need? Is it necessary to shorten the drive shaft?
I know the 250 has the same bell housing bolt pattern as the 302. Is the flex plate bolt pattern the same?
Would this flexplate work? ----> https://www.competitionproducts.com...rnal/productinfo/SCAFP-302N-SFI/#.YI83LrVKiUl
    Thanks in advance!

(Note: this swap is necessary because we have a 3.80 posi rear already installed)

If the 250 and the 302 have the same bolt pattern for the flex plate I would get one for a 300. They aren't horribly expensive and it will be neutral balance,

I've read that on the Classic Inlines page.

    Would this one work?

I really couldn't say, I don't know for certain the bolt pattern would be correct for the 250. I know one from a 302 will bolt to a 300, made that mistake once!

Well... it's the correct amount of teeth and (164) and seems to be the same diameter. It also says it's for the Ford L6 300ci engine.

This one also fits the same criteria...

If anybody else knows, your input would be appreciated.

I'm also interested to know if the linkage to the column shifter needs modification?
I've heard that switching to a floor shifter is a good option with an AOD swap.
