I had another PS Pump installed today...again. It's new, not rebuilt. This one, like the last 2 is whining like crazy. It stated that it was supposed to be quiet. Well it's not at all. I'm going to manual steering but need help finding a pulley setup since the PS pump will no longer be there. The way it is now, is one belt for the crank, water pump and PS. Anyone have photos of their conversion?

    Thanks guys.

Air in system will cause whine from mild to wild.

What's the best way to get the air out and how do you tell if that's the issue?

If there is air in fluid, it should be somewhat foamy...

    Whining like crazy?

Confirm something by isolating the sound.

    1. Rev motor only (no wheel turning). What sound?

    Next

    2. Idle only, turn wheel hard left and right ( no reving motor) What sound?

Normally, the way to bleed a power steering system is to leave the cap off of the pump and work the steering wheel back and forth, not too quickly, from lock to lock until it gets quiet. Once it's bled, check the level again.

If fluid is aerating, pulling a vacuum on filler will get rid of the air in short order. BUT if it reoccurs, likely there is a problem with return line baffle in rear of pump housing.

Whining (squealing) like crazy could also be a loose or bad belt.

Just rip it out and go manual.

I already gave you link with info and pictures.
