My understanding is it's a direct replacement, shouldn't have and size issues.

We have a 3.80 gear in our 250 Comet right now. It makes the car launch really nice. We also have a big log head in the shop right now, getting all the performance mods done (porting, valves, springs, etc) and then we're doing the 2 bbl conversion with the fully opened oval hole. We have an AOD ready for installation, which will mate with the 3.80 gear pretty well. We're going to top off the big log with a Holley Street Avenger to keep the cost down, instead of our recent plan of doing the Sniper 2300 + extras.
We originally entertained the idea of the Offy 3-carb setup, but it looks too costly and tempermental as far as adjustments go.
The Holley Street Avenger is only 3.25 inches tall, so clearance shouldn't be an issue... and neither will power. I don't know of any shorter 1 bbl carbs (other than the Carter RBS) that will fit under the hood... and the RBS is too long to mount three of them in a row.

You do bring up a good point...$1000+ labor does buy quite a bit of gas. Kind of off topic but I want to entertain another idea. If/when the old RBS carburetor comes around for a rebuild, do you think I'd be better off getting an Autolite 1100 or just rebuilding the Carter?

RBS rebuild kits are cheap. But what are you trying to accomplish?
This started as an inquiry about the triple deuce setup because you wanted to get more performance from your 250 motor. Rebuilding an RBS will just get you a better running motor without much of an increase in performance or horsepower.
The best advice you'll find on which direction to take (considering cost and what you want to gain in performance) is right here...
