I havent driven comet in about a week or so. Felt like going on a short cruise. I,m in car warming motor up. From back seat a damn carjacker skipped from backseat to front. I bailed like motha! Left keys and ignition running! Car jacker is a rat!
that crushed car that I got my dash pad from had a rat in it. as I was getting the bolts loose from under the dash I pulled a crew sock and some straw from under the dash. I thought it might be a rat's nest but worked on. within 2 minutes a big rat jumped from under the dash. he was running around inside the car that had no seats or carpet in it. my first thought was to run but as I went for the opening in the passenger door glass he shot out a hole that was rusted out in the floorpan. there was an old floor matt laying there so I threw it over the hole and went back to work. then I got to thinking, if there was another one up there he (she) wouldn't have a way to get out. thinking that, I slid the matt back to expose the hole. there were no more and the one that was there never came back, not while I was there... this is where Patches lives when I'm not driving him...
This is why my neighbors cat “accidentally” gets locked in my garage every other week…. Cat hair is a lot nicer than having a unwanted guest pop out
So I'm getting on the freeway, and I hear this distress meowing behind me ... in rearview mirror I see my unhappy cat perched on the top of the back seat. This has happened twice. At least no rats.
This reminds me of a friend of mine custom van. Rats invaded it under the dash right under the motor cover. Anyway we was going down the street and apparently something upset the rats. They came out from under the dash and started jumping on him. I ended up having to grab the steering wheel to keep from crashing. He later found the nest and shot them with a pellet gun.
As a teenager, I was driving my 71 Torino, on my way to my part-time job. For once, I was on time and not rushing. I get halfway to work and finally look in the rear view mirror to see our big Tabby cat, lounging on the package shelf, and he was now thoroughly enjoying the ride. He had been sunning himself there. I had parked the car with the windows open. Turned the car around for home. Dropped the cat off. I was now late for work ....
Back in early '80s I had a cat decide to get in back of my service van. I'd left back door open, colder weather, guess he was looking for a warm spot. Anyway I was several miles down road when I discovered him. Was in a quandary. Do I take him back? Introduce him to country life? Is he some kids pet? Well he rode back there all afternoon & when I got back to town I dropped him off where he'd gotten in. Looked around and there were probably 12-15 cats setting on different porches. Hell, if I'd known that, would have left him in the country. Probably half dozen years later we had a cat show up & wife began feeding him(no not same one). We'd seen cats from time but this one was intent on staying, so we got him checked out, shots etc. Helluva good cat, in/out. After awhile we realized there were no more stray cats in our yard(or dogs for that matter), ole Abner was keeping them at bay. We'd discovered there was a house in next block that had at least a dozen cats, guess our boy had struck out looking for greener pastures. He loved people but wasn't much on having other cats/dogs around.
Someone told me to put Irish Spring soap in the car during the winter to keep mice away. Don't know if it works but I haven't had a problem and the car smells good in the spring.
It's also supposedly good for relieving leg cramps, a few good whiffs and they almost instantly subside. I didn't believe it but it has worked for me.
Hey Will : MOTH BALLS work very well .. place some under carpets, on engine block , etc. No More Critters ! Worked for me. Cometized Chip
