Hey everyone, one of my shock towers is shot and I don't feel comfortable with just repairing it, so I think I'm gonna replace them both. Tall order, I know...Does anyone know if the 67-68 (or ANY) Mustang shock towers are roughly the right dimensions?

I figure it wouldn't be impossible to just place the new tower over the old one to check, but I'd really like to not spend the money if someone here has tried it.

    They are Maverick specific.

Dang, that’s rough. Oh well, time to call the scrap yard and see if they got any! :thumbs2:

You might consider a Mustang 2 or AJE suspension setup if your removing the towers.

I can't say they are exactly same but, '66-'69 Fairlane & Torino are very similar. Possibly Granada are same, Mustang & '70-'71 Torino definitely different.

Granada might be the same. Personally, if my towers were so bad that they needed cut out, I would leave them cut out and install a M-II suspension as mentioned by others. That's a lot of work just to end up with the limitations of the original design...

Call me nostalgic lol. I'll definitely check up on a few different towers. Worse case scenario, I look around a few scrap yards, but that still puts me in the position of buying a used part that's known to fail. I'm not against a Mustang II swap, but in my mind the old limitations are part of the fun (and headache)!

Part scarcity though...THAT'S the rough part...:16suspect:

What's wrong with your original towers? What does "shot" mean? They don't wear out, so if you're referring to rot, the rest of the car would likely be pretty rotted, in which case should be sent to the scrapper in favor of a car that is more solid...

IIRC, AJE or RRS makes a replacement panel unit, tower section, much smaller than OE towers. If I were eliminating stock units and want to stay w/ some semblance of towers; this may be something to consider.

Definitely. If i cant find OE that’ll fit, i have some decent mini towers in mind to fall back on.
