Actually a 7.25" ring gear is in a Maverick. Ford made a 6.75" to use on the first few years on a Falcon sedan with a 144, stepped up to 7" if a Ranchero/Wagon or Taxi. If you got a 170 engine then you got a much stronger 7.25". I remember back in the early 70's when the 6.75" that came in my Falcon came unglued when I dumped the clutch with a 170 six cyl.

    good discussion

... so the earliest Mavericks' did have the same '7.25 rear' as the 60's Falcon / Comet /Mustang (six) ?.

    Maybe only 69/70 Maverick?. My 'parts car' Maverick 71 4 Dr 170/3.03 had the typical 8" - 2.79: 1 .

    have fun

Later into the 1970 model year the 8" became the axle used. I think a lot had to do with the inclusion of the 250 as an engine option and the dropping of the 144.
My June 70 built 200 car had the 8".

When did the 250 get added to the options. Was it with the 1st version of the Grabber? That would be around February.

7.25 rear axle = Not really worth anything. Joe Bayura will probably want it.

8" rear axle (4-lug) = Yes, it is worth something. As stated, the early Mustang/Falcon people will buy it.
