I’m at a loss as to what these wires are for looks like they go through the fire wall , I’ve searched for hrs don’t know how to use schematics not even sure if that’s how it’s spelled. But it looks like a round grommet that fits a hole in the firewall.
Did the car have a factory automatic floor shifter? Looks like the wiring harness for the transmission mounted neutral safety switch.
Could have ,it definitely had a column shifter cause it’s still in there less the shift part I will try decoding the vin just got the battery installed back in the front out of the trunk I can start testing wires today
There's no transmission info in VIN. The data tag will have trans type info but not whether it was floor or column shift.
Do a Google search for 1972 maverick , firewall, wiring. Gather information, wiring takes research. You will need a ford electrician. The wires are cut, it will take a pro wiring Man. Not necessarily an expensive one. This Wiring has been patched before, and it will be customized some more unless you by new, all the way.
How many wires are there and if you could let us know what their colour markings are, might be able to find out what it is for. David
