Almost ready to send my Maverick to the media blaster, and wanted to remove the VIN sticker on the door pillar. I started with a razor blade and heat but not going well. Then I tried some 3m adhesive remover but getting worse. Any advice on removing or a source for a new one. It just dawned on me this may not be legal? ‍

Blasting entire car, gonna be a little dificult to work around one decal. Also considering a color change.

It's nothing more than a certification/warranty tag. No legality involved.

Marti Auto Works can make you a new one.

What you can't do is remove the VIN at left corner of windshield.

That's good news. I have good pictures of it, plus I have the buck tag and the dash with tag. Thanks for the link to Marti Auto, will contact them. The tag is convenient with all the pertinent info for the car with easy access.

And yet it comes off with the dash! It blows my mind they did that, the GM stuff I've owned had the tag attached to a non removable part of the body.

As it is on most Ford products...

Major exception is '70-'71 Torino, attached to dash cap that's easily removed in five minutes.

I would not bother removing it. When sand blasted, a lot easier to mask it off. When you remove it, it will say VOID underneath it.

Just use masking tape on the label. After painting, pull it off.

Ya, I got a little ahead of myself. I did mask it off today, but I had already started removing it. It is still intact but now I will have to figure out how to re-glue the edges. Off to the media blaster tomorrow. Gonna need to do a small bumper swap. PXL_20211213_201150693.jpg PXL_20211213_201211022.jpg PXL_20211213_201150693.jpg PXL_20211213_201211022.jpg

I was gonna take the cowl apart, and let them blast between the top and bottom. After I blew all the debree out, it isn't that bad. One hole on the inside. I hope I can just get that from the underside when on the rotisserie.

I would just remove the old Data Label, then blast everything to clean metal and repaint, buy new Data Label from Marti, it will be exactly the same, new label with new paint!

VIN should be stamped on upper lip on each side of the front apron, about where the shock towers are.

Watch out blasting the inside of the cowl. It's hard to get paint in there. Maybe best to leave it alone. This became an issue for me.

Marti didn't quite get my label right. Maybe because it was a Canadian Maverick.

I was getting ready to add that the Canadian data stickers.....Marti can't do those exactly right.
