Tried my hand at restoring my AC controls plate. Got a couple touch ups and I’ll be happy with it.

    It's a 79 302 truck block, different pan than a car block..

I get what you're saying, difference is 302 vs 351, what the engine came from makes no difference(though engine front dress changed from '69 to '70). Front sump pan for late '60s/early '70s 351 Torino, Stang etc all same.

Personally after having done 3 351W swaps, if I was to do it again, use a 302 block, especially if it's already there, and stroke it to a 347. AFR or some alum, heads, good headers and beef up the drive train.

Been a while since I checked in ! I took my gas tank off and cleaned it out. I coated it with Red Kote. I painted the outside, and installed it. Put a new sending unit in the tank and some new fuel lines. Blew the steel line out before that. It seemed pretty clean, nothing came out. Put a new fuel pump and filter in. Ran my HEI hot wire to the fuse box . I fired it up and it ran decent , but had some blow by coming out the valve cover breather. The brakes pump up to a degree. So I hot rodded it around my front yard ! It was fun, with limited braking. The next day, I put some Sea Foam in the oil , about 5 ounces. I ran it for about 10 minutes . It looks like that blow by is gone ! The rings must have freed up more. Ordered a new master cylinder that is supposed to be here tomorrow. I am on a roll and everything seems to be working. The Mav fires right up every time !

Congrats! Wish I was a little closer to that but hopefully this year will see significant work getting done!

Replaced the rear windshield gasket and put new tires on the car. I cannot express how much I hate the butyl for the glass. :banghead:. Glass is in though and tires are on. Also decided to rewire some of the engine bay and add some wire looms to clean it up.

Removed the valve body from this, upload_2022-3-26_6-15-30.jpeg to clean and inspect it. Missing 1 check ball and the drain back valve.[IMG]
Fortunately a trans shop that specializes in older stuff has the parts. Picking them up Monday. No wonder the trans slipped.

Finished rebuilding the trans and hooked everything back up. Clutches were fried, due to missing valve and check ball in the valve body. When you change the filter look for this drain back valve and put it back in.
Next week we'll put her back together some more. Also install the new rear brake hose, and flushed the brake lines.

Sorry everyone, I couldn't resist..that's like a 454 or some monster they had there.. this is our motor, and really did pick it up yesterday... .060 over, roller everything, they assembled and ran to break in for 4,000. Around 750 for intake, valve covers, new pan, water pump.. ect...

Bought a new speedo cable. Was under the car, and saw it got burned on the exhaust ! Tightened up the exhaust at the manifolds. Installed the master cylinder and bled the brakes ! I have a nice hard pedal now. Snugged the oil pan bolts just a tad and the tranny pan bolts also. Now to get all the tail lights working and the other electrical in order. I could drive this on the road soon . It runs pretty good !
