I was pretty sold on a Blueprint 302 crate motor in my 71 Maverick. But I have been reading some owners like the 347 too. What do you guys think? 302 or 347? Either will be a Blueprint crate motor. Either would also have EFI. Fit and installation easier with one or the other? Pros and cons? 392 has 370 hp and the 347 has 415 hp. I would like to keep my C4 transmission.

347 with beefed c-4 will get the job done. Stock c-4 will blow.

Same basic engine, 347 just has a longer stroke. 347 would have more grunt, that's what is going in mine.

There’s no replacement for displacement. Let’s face it, the high horsepower numbers require serious RPM. If you are just cruising, the 347 will offer you a much better seat-of-pants experience leaving the stop light.

I've had two stock block 347's in my car over the years, lots of fun. I broke both of them, the 150 hp shot of nitrous probably had something to do with it. LOL And no, it won't cause your C4 to "blow" unless you're really beating the snot out of it. People used to say the same thing about my T5 but what I found was it would spin the tires before hurting the trans. And it will spin the tires. Easily. The block will be the weak link if it's a stock block. Does the Blueprint engine use an aftermarket block or stock block? Do you plan on taking it to the track or just street driving?

I like the 347 over the 302 but built if I was to do it again I would go with a 408 (stroked 351) not that much more to build and way more hp and torque , just a little tighter in engine compartment

347 All the way !! We put a 5 speed Tremec behind it with a 3:55 gear and I've never regretted it . Nice Package !! I'am currently running a 5.0 STOCKER in a 70 Maverick and with a gear and 5 speed its enough for me . Plenty of Steam but , I wouldn't wax well against a 347 or 408 ! That's MY two cents !

We installed a Blueprint Engines 415 hp/427 tq 347 engine in my Maverick in front of a TKO 5-speed that is connected to a narrowed 4.11:1 Trac Lok differential going to 18.5 x 29 tires and am very happy with it. As noted above it is a stock roller cam block. Blueprint is very easy to work with! I asked them if I swapped the center sump pan w/ dipstick that the engine came with for a front sump pan and timing cover with the dipstick to fit the Maverick engine bay would it change the warranty and they changed them at no expense.

Should be a no-brainer. 347 produces more power. If your budget allows, the 347 is the way to go...

If there's not a lot of difference in cost of definitely go 347. One thing though. A 302 won't be crutched with stock manifolds. But a 347 will. With that being said if your set on stock exhaust manifolds....maybe a 302 would be just as well.

Both engines would be choked by stock exhaust manifolds...

That is the engine I bought and couldn't be happier unless someone else bought my fuel!;)
