I just recently bought my 1970 Maverick and have been searching the internet and this forum, to learn all I can about upgrades. I've been surprised at some of the high prices as well as how some items are still so cheap. The following items still have me stumped.

So far I have found nothing for a 1970 rear seat cover. Is there anyone selling the covers and foam?
I'd like to get aftermarket bucket seats. I like the sporty look but I'm concerned many of the aftermarket seats will be extremely uncomfortable. They must slide forward and recline. Does anyone have any suggestions along with what mounting hardware might work?
Finally, my dash pad is toast! I have seen several pictures and I'm really impressed with how well the cover looks. Before I buy a dash cover, is anyone making new ones?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

'70's didn't come with bucket seats so it takes some fabrication to get 'em in. Over the years I've had Cougar buckets, aftermarket Fox Mustang buckets, and now Chrysler Cirrus buckets. I picked up the Cirrus seats at a salvage yard for $20. Leather, 8-way power adjustable, big and comfy.

To my knowledge no one makes a new dash pad. The covers are nice. I have one on my car.

I ordered one, and should get it Sunday, anything will look better than my current pad.

I'd take a new pad over the cap any day.

Nope, you get enough money into these cars which you never get out. Go check the prices of nice restored cars. I already have.

Really, RMiller pay $400 for a black pad vs $100 for cap?

Charlie, when you deal with Autokrafters you will find them outrageous with price.

Yes, I know they are vendor supporting our cars but their prices? I have one of their catalogs too. They sent it free.

You know there is people that actually buy parts from them?

a couple of Guys on here helped them set up their catalog. I buy from them.
their prices are no different than a lot of people that sell used Mav/Comet parts.
we've been through the price of parts discussion on here before...it is what it is.

I don't do this to make money, I do it because I enjoy it. I have passed the point of ever breaking even on this car and it doesn't even run yet.

Yes, really and you might want to brush up on your pricing, I am seeing the caps sell for $189, not $100. At half the price of a new pad it's a no brainer to me.

Where I live, a plastic dash cap would have a short life it if spends any time out side and mine will be driven a lot and spend time in the sun baking. Here is what one looks like after the summers in my neck of the weeds (we have no woods) have their way with it, pay me now or pay me later.

Miller, I paid $100 for my cap. Don't even go there with a black dash pad. I live in Texas and most know about the heat down here.

How long ago and from where? Honestly, without seeing the pad it's really hard to gauge the quality. It it's anything like the POS foam molded console lid they used to sel for my GTO I would run but it says it has marine grade vinyl which has held up very well on my boat. If it's on par with OEM I would run it. As it stands, I have a crack free OEM pad so it's all irrelevant to me.
