Maverick T5 clutch cable

    Earl, where did you position your firewall brace? The best location I see is between the master cylinder and the fuse box. Did you mount yours there? the brace I got from the kit is a snug fit and it doesn't, look like it'll be 100% straight with the quadrant for the cable

    My brace is right beside the master cylinder, and just below the lip on the cowl/firewall seam. Go here:

    I can see that our master cylinders are slightly different. My firewall brace seems to be having clearance issues with my clutch pedal bracket's top right bolt. I most likely will need to modify one or the other to get the brace to fit. Which do you suggest? the bolt, down to just having the nut hold it down, or the brace?

    there is also a blow proof bell-housing that can be used with the cable or the mechanical OEM linkage for the t5 transmition....dependant on what pressure plate you use, you will have a smooth clutch, a mechanical shifting linkage will most likely be a little stiff ...FWIW I have a f350 crewcab dually with a six speed and hydralic system and a trooper five speed with a clutch cable and there is no feedback or feel to whats is going on, but on my 4speed fairlane with the mechanical linkage feels so good !!!! and the hurst competition plus is light years ahead of the OEM shifter !!!! love hitting those gears !!!!!

    Are you guys using the 65-66 kit or the 67-68 kit?

    This seems alot harder than how i did mine.A little fab work and presto.Larry Winter's turned out a little neater because mine was the "test pattern"

    same here. mine was a breeze with very little fabbing... :huh:

    I used a hydraulic clutch set up from Modern Driveline ........... totally satisfied with it. Takes a bit of skill to get it in but once completed everything is just right with how it feels and works. It's not cheap once you buy the master unit and a slave - but it is the only way I would set up a car again if I had to.

    Agreed my son just put a TKX in his maverick with this setup. Had to add another washer to the pivot stud .200 total thickness. But now its perfect.
