Ok so I saw a few warts in the vinyl top on my '70 so....I ripped off the top!The roof is in fine shape, but the drivers side drip rail has a couple bad spots that the stainless strip will cover, but at the rear, where itcurves down to end it's almost gone(rusted). Can I cut another drip rail off another car & put it on?I'll probably put a new top(vinyl)back on too so the repair wouldn't have to be "bloomington gold".BTW,when it gets a new top it'll be stored inside.

I dont know what your fabrication skills are, but for me, cutting one off another car and then adding it to yours is more work. I would fabricate my own. But I like to do that kind of stuff. So to answer your question, you certainly can cut one off another car and weld it on yours.

I was thinking of cutting mine off and being done with it, how well does this plan work? does it need to be welded up where it joins the roof, or can i just cut sand and be done?

you can remove them altogether, it is more work than just sanding them off, they have to be welded completely and will require more work past that to make them look right.
    (yes, I've done it)
