Does anyone here compete or used to compete in USACi or IASCA, dB Drag type of format? Not necessarily in a Maverick but sound-off competing with any kind of car. I am curious if anyone will be attending the combined USACi/IASCA World Finals in Kansas City, MO. in October.

I went to one tiny show about a million years ago when I lived in Sonora, California. Hit 121db with a single 12" in my '81 Datsun 310. Sounded like a lot in 1997.

Nowadays a single 8" with a decent amp will hit those numbers. :yup:
Amazing how fast things like that progress. You gotta love technology.

Definately had fun. that was my thing in those days. Still have that box and speaker. been holding down the corner in the pare room of three different houses for the last several years. Box is too damned big to put in anything I have.

I can't believe we hang onto those things. I have a CD player from 1988 that doesn't even work but it has a lot of memories attached to it.

    hehehe
My sub still works, but jeeze! A bandpass box 36x18x18? Only good for a big hatchback or I did a cutthrough in my old d-50 pickup. worked great for that. Never did put a whole lot of power to it. good as new as far as I know. it's a 1997 Kicker c12 4ohm. Great driver. I've got a single Kicker 10" Solobaric in my daily driver now running off my old tweeter amp, a Kicker 352xi and it really rips for a tiny driver and such a little amp.
Jeeze, now you've got me thinking about big hotrod stereos again!
    What's your SPL rig like?

Once you've had a hotrod stereo, its hard to kick the habit.:D When we get closer to finishing the SPL truck I'll post some pics. Its underconstruction right now, but some more cement and some bodywork and paint then it should be ready in aobut a month or so.

nd you're right about kicking the habit. It's damned tough! This little Scion I bought just screams for a full blown system, but So far it's just a small sub and the stock everything else.

Subs are still the best place to start. It can make a mediocre system sound a lot more full and nicer to listen to. Scions were born to customize, so you better get busy!:D

hehehe. The reason I got this little Scion is so the Maverick doesn't have to go on the back burner. Won't have to fix the daily driver, since there's little chance of it ever breaking. I can concentrate on pulling wrenches on the Maverick instead.
It'd sure be nice to not have a car payment though...

I don't know, i've never been db racing. but i know i like a high quality, loud stereo. i have no clue what my db is or under what circumstances ya'll'd want the the numbers. what i do know is that a buddy of mine just stated that "all i know is that if it's cranked up, yer ears HURT when ya get out" he's got 2-12 on 600w listens all day at max no prob. so i guess, yes mine's loud.

see my post of "just sharing my setup" pics to come soon i hope.
